Farewell, Dear Friends!

Today we said good-bye to the Dixons. They have been treasured friends for the past 2 years. We have been so blessed by their friendship, and it's hard for us to let them go. Even though we know that we will keep in contact, it won't quite be the same as sitting around the table sharing treats...or bowling at the local alley...or exploring the zoo...or picnics at the park. We truly do wish them a blessed move and a wonderful beginning for their new life direction...we're just struggling with being selfish and wanting them to stay behind for our sake! So with heavy hearts, we say "good-bye, Dear Friends...we will miss you greatly."

School Finale

Yesterday we finished all our school assignments and we completed/added to our growth charts. The extensions at the end of the ribbon strand represents how much they each have grown throughout this past school year. Isaiah grew the most, but I was actually surprised that the amounts where very similar.

Today we went to the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks to celebrate the completion of our 3rd year of homeschooling. We studied and studied and studied aquatic animals this past year, so the aquarium field trip was the best field trip we could have taken!

Kiahna and Aliya loved all the "touch tanks". This particular tank was a new exhibit. The horseshoe crabs look very similar to rays, but they are not. It was nice to "understand" the differences.

Niah took some time out to show Isaiah how to take pictures with the camera. Isaiah was a little frightened (at first) by some of the animals. He didn't want to touch anything ..but then he finally touched the sea star and the sea cucumber!

The girls LOVED the shrimp tank. They put their hands in the water and waited patiently for the shrimp to scoot over their hands. Shrimp are benthic creatures. If you don't know what that means, ask one of the girls!!!

Isaiah and Kiahna enjoyed running back and forth between the different tanks. Isaiah wanted to climb on the step "all by himself" to see the animals.

We picked up a souvenir in the gift shop before calling it a day. This past school year was our best yet, and today was the perfect ending to a great year. Now we are looking forward to our summer break, and we will start school again in about 6 weeks.

Swim Finale

Tonight was the final swim lesson for the girls. Kiahna and Aliya have been taking lessons for the past 4 weeks, Niah the past 2 weeks. Isaiah wasn't officially taking classes, but I would swim with him while the girls had their lessons. We all will look forward to doing it again next year!!!
