Happy 40th!

Today is TJ's 40th birthday. Yesterday evening we went to his job and decorated his cubicle. Apparently other people had already been there and had put up the "over the hill" decorations. I paused for a moment...wondering if I should tear all that junk down, but then I decided to leave it alone. Instead, we just put our decorations up where we wanted them and left it at that. Oh...and before we left, we had to record some birthday wishes. The kids have been giddy with excitement over this birthday surprise!

Song and Dance

Today the girls had their spring ballet recital. At first, Kiahna and Aliya signed up for both ballet and tap, but then Aliya decided that she only wanted to do ballet...so Niah ended up taking her spot in the tap class.

The girls always looked forward to practices on Tuesdays. Even Isaiah loved going because he got to "free dance" at the end of each class.

"Free Dance" happened at the end of class (last 5 minutes of practice), and it includes fun music, freestyle dance moves, AND a piece of candy!

This semester Isaiah also had another special treat--he had another boy to play with in the waiting area! One of the girls in dance class had a little brother about Isaiah's age, so they got to play together during practices.

So...today is bittersweet. We were excited to see the girls' performance, but sad because this will be their last ballet recital. We do not plan on enrolling in the fall classes. The girls are sad to say good-bye to Ms. Olivia for now...but it's only temporarily because we plan on attending the summer dance camps.

Sweet & Sour

Science experiments can be so much fun...or sweet...or sour...or all the above! Today we did a TASTING experiment to differentiate between sweet, sour, and bitter. While some reactions were genuinely sincere, others were exaggerated with theatrics, and the camera only intensified those efforts!

At the end of the experiment, somehow the "sweet" treats had disappeared, while the bitter and sour ones still remained on the plate. I guess that's a mystery to solve for another day!
