Pioneer Days
We joined Niah's class for her field trip today. We went to Harn's Homestead to celebrate the 100th birthday of Oklahoma. It could not have been a more gorgeous day! It wasn't too hot or too cold, and there was a nice breeze to keep the bugs away.
They learned how to make rope, they learned what items they would need to bring on their wagon, and they pitched a tent!
Kiahna loved every minute of it. Besides all the activities, there were lots of young girls in Niah's class who wanted to hold her and walk with her. She definitely got a lot of attention! Finally, enough was enough...she had to take a break! She took about an hour nap before waking up for more fun!
These faces sure look familiar...I know I have seen those bandits somewhere before! I better keep my eye out for them...sure would be nice to have the reward!
The girls had to make their own stake and flag for the land run. At high noon, hundreds of kids lined up to wait for the signal to "stake their land"! Aliya waited in line for several minutes, but quit after hearing the first gun shot go off. Aliya was happy to "hang out by the wagon" and eat snacks. Niah raced to stake her claim, but had trouble finding "the perfect home".
One of Niah's classmates has a little brother the same age as Aliya. Aliya tells everyone that he is her boyfriend. They love to play and run around. Actually, she loves to chase him--he is not always so interested.
Only those in my family will appreciate the next picture...IT'S THE JEAN SKIRT--the skirt that never dies! There is a hilarious story behind the jean skirt, but I will not expand upon it at this time.

We had a great day, but we were tired by the time it was over. We went straight home and took a nap!

Ah yes...the jean skirt. I can still remember the wonderful feeling of opening my package to find out that I did not get one. I loved the shirt I got, though I probably would have loved anything other than a jean skirt.
The hats look great on the girls. Great job mom for staying up late and burning the midnight oil for your girls.
