Zoo Friends

We woke up early this morning for our field trip to the zoo. The girls were sound asleep, but as soon as we said, "Time to go to the zoo!", they were up in 2 seconds. We had just found out yesterday that the zoo admission every Wednesday for July and August was only .75 cents per person. That's a super bargain for a day of fun, fun, fun!

The tortoise exhibit was one of the first ones as you enter the zoo. Kiahna was very excited to see the "toot toot". This particular tortoise was moving toward the fence--for a tortoise he was moving pretty quickly.

We watched the seal and bird show. The girls had a front row seat for one of the performances. They thought that was great! For the bird show, they had a talking parrot do some tricks, and then they also had a African Crane that flew across the audience a few times. By this time of the day, it was starting to get very hot! I wanted to jump in the water and swim with the seals!

We also got to see some apes and chimpanzees. We didn't see the gorillas--other than the four that were on display!

The girls were very anxious to see the alligators, but it was late in the afternoon by the time we got to see the them. It was VERY hot--however, THIS time I was not tempted in any way to jump in the water!

The day turned out to be a great success! We got to ride the tram twice around the zoo--that means you get to see all the safari animals without having to walk miles and miles. We also got to have a picnic lunch, and we also got to play at the zoo playground! I think we will do this again very soon.
