Spring Formal

It's spring formal time again! Hard to believe a year has gone by since Niah's first formal...but it has! This year TJ had a BIG surprise for his not-so-little-anymore girl. He surprised Niah with a LIMO! Not only that, but a very special limo buddy (Eickey) offered to chauffeur so that daddy and daughter could ride together!

Eickey called TJ when he was right around the corner. We headed outside to "take pictures" by the lake, which really meant we were watching and waiting for the surprise limo to pull up. I snapped one picture and my batteries went dead. I didn't want to welcome the limo with a dead camera, so I quickly sent Niah back to the house for some new batteries.

The limo arrived while she was in the house so it was a good thing I sent HER in instead of running in myself! So this time when she walked out the house, the limo was right there waiting for her. She was surprised and happy--and so was Daddy!

Titanic was the theme for the formal this year since this year happens to be the 100th anniversary of the tragic event. Niah told us that as they arrived, each person got a boarding ticket with the name of a real person that was on the Titanic. At the end of the evening, they revealed who survived and who did not. She happened to be a survivor, but Daddy was not.

Niah also told us that there was a guest speaker that had a very special message for them. This speaker was a survivor of the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, and she had a beautiful, inspiring, and tearful message for the young people. I would have loved to have been there...

This formal turned out to be a very special formal in more ways than just one. This one will be hard to beat!

WOW. She is beautiful! What a nice surprise. I am still waiting to ride in a limo... maybe one day. It seemed to have been a wonderful and interesting night.
