An Ocean Perspective
On June 26th we headed down to Houston, TX, in anticipation of celebrating cousin Ryan's birthday. We did so many fun things while we were there, and most of things were related to water since it was a little toasty.
On Sunday, July 1, we had spent the whole day at Schlitterbahn for Ryan's birthday. The kids have declared Schlitterbahn the most AWESOME place in the world, and that means something because we have been to a lot of awesome places! After a long day of riding water slides and floating in the river, we decided to swing by the coastline, and take a look at the beach.
This was Isaiah and Kiahna's first time at a beach. This was also the first time at a beach that Aliya could remember because she was too little when we went to the beach in Florida many years ago. We could have stayed and played for hours, but the sun was going down and so were the eyelids of many little people, so we headed back to the house. We had one more day to recoup and to play before heading back to Oklahoma on Tuesday (July 3rd).
An ocean perspective...what is it, really? Well...I can only speak for myself, but it's more of an experience than anything else. The ocean is beautiful...powerful...relaxing...and dreadful all at the same time. The ocean is an all or nothing experience. You can't separate the good from the bad. All the storms, all the danger, all the tragedy is entangled with the majestic beauty. The ocean pulls at a person's soul with a force greater than the tide. Our souls know that a story is written in the waves by our Creator...and we are compelled to listen, even if we don't understand. With that being said...
